I love a fun art challenge and I thought this one would be perfect as it's only 28 (really 29) days. I kept seeing the hashtag #28februaryflowers that started from another artist, Amanda Evanston, so I jumped on board!

However I added a little twist to this challenge for myself. I am trying to stay loose with my brushes and work in a more abstract style than was is normal for me. Working in a sketchbook helps to let go of having to make it "perfect". I started this challenge a day late when I found out about it, but I will be able to make up the 28th day as it's a leap year!

I also try to finish the painting under an hour, which can be hard as I am always trying to find little details to add. But if I want to stay loose then I need to just let it be as well.

I am using some of new colors from Nova Color Paints! They are so smooth. I love how they feel in this sketchbook as well. Not available on Amazon or big art stores, just on their website - and reasonably priced. As you can see from this week of paintings I am having fun with the blues and pinks in the collection. I'll start to mix it up next week.
