Suggested Art Supply List, Extras + Options!

Please know that it is not my intention for you to purchase all the supplies! You may have a lot of these already,

and I suggest that you use your favorites supplies on hand. And, always stay true to the colors that you love. All my lessons can easily be done in a color palette of your choosing. I recommend that you watch the videos first to see what supplies you need.

In the art lessons, I will be sharing some of my favorite art supplies that I love to use!

Paper

Fabriano Studio Watercolor Pad 11x14 or 8x10

You can choose any brand of watercolor paper, 140lb hot press (smooth), and in any size.

Acrylic Inks or Fluid Paint

Choose 2-3 colors you want for the first layer! I will be using green + blue.

Substitutions: fluid paint, or homemade fluid paint (link to DYI video below - this video is also in the class lessons).

Amsterdam Yellowish Green, Daler-Rowney Turquoise,

Fluid Paints:

Golden High Flow White (not necessary, but it’s great to mix with)

(my favorite colors: Golden Quinacridone Magenta and Golden Phthalo Turquoise)

Acrylic Paints

I love Nova Color Paints, but there are lots of options out there!

Nova Color Paints soft body Blue-green, Hot Pink, Yellow Green

Decoart Traditions or Liquitex Professional soft body sample kit

Studio-Grade basic kits (perfect for homemade fluid paint)

Liquitex Basics or Sennelier Abstract Paints

Stencils

Floral Frolics

Any brand, even homemade stencils are great!

Brushes

Sponge Brushes or skewer to push inks around

I love King Art brushes, especially the angle shaders!

1/2 “ angle shader, 3/8" angle shader

King Art Brushes mixed media paintbrush kit

Wax Crayons

I love painting and drawing with these crayons, just make sure you choose water-soluble so you can use wet. If you are lucky to visit an art supply store you can usually find the Neo Colors and wax crayons as singles, or you can find sets online.

Neo Color IIs set, Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 set

I am using:

Yellow-green

Jade Green

Veronese Green

White

Turquoise Blue

Mauve

Periwinkle Blue

Purple Violet

Rose

Paint Pens

Posca or Sharpie

My favorite set is the 3m pastel by Posca

or the 5mm pastel set

Misc:

Skewer (also found at hardware or kitchen stores)

Heat dryer by Ranger or hairdryer

Viva Paper towels

White pen I really like the Signo Uni-ball gel pen

No 2 pencil

Scotch magic tape or painters tape

Spray bottle of water

Optional:

Fixative - Use between some mixed media layers (optional)

Varnish - Spray after you are finished (optional)

Not in the lessons, but I do love these art supplies for mixed media:

Watercolor Pencils

So many choices out there! I personally like the Caran D’ache the best, the Supra Color II line is incredible. And like the Neo’s sometimes you can find these in an art supply store and just find the colors you like instead of a set. Also, the Faber Castell Aqua line is great too.

Caran D’ache Supra Color set, Faber Castell Goldfaber Aqua set

DYI - How to make your own fluid paint!

Refillable bottles are perfect for storing and pouring the fluid paint!
