Escape to a weekend of inspiration and creativity with me and my dear friend and incredible artist, Renee Mueller. The breathtaking landscapes of Santa Cruz, California, will refresh and inspire you.
My home is on a coastal bluff with a 360-degree view of the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Cruz Mountains. We will create art indoors as well as outdoors in the flower gardens, gorgeous beach, and serene forest.
Embrace the wonder of nature and enjoy walking along the water's edge of the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. Enjoy a beautiful and memorable morning hike amid the towering redwoods in Nisene Forest, with time to sketch and draw inspiration from their majestic presence.
We will have two full days together to make art, have conversations, connect with other creatives, have good food, go on hikes, and enjoy beautiful sunsets. You will leave with an armload of artwork and feel refreshed and inspired.
This retreat will be a mix of inspiration, creativity, art lessons, nature, beauty, and of course lots of laughter and play, and all levels are welcome!

Thursday, September 26:
Meet and Greet (appetizers and cocktails)

Friday, September 27:
Art lessons in the studio
Creativity + Inspiration at the Beach
9:30 We gather at Andrea’s home for coffee + light breakfast
10:00 Art Lesson
12:00 Lunch at Andrea’s in the flower garden
1:00 Inspirational walk + art at Rio Del Mar Beach
2:30 Back to Andrea’s for afternoon treats and more inspiration
3-5 Art Lesson
6pm Optional group dinner at a local restaurant

Creativity + Inspiration in the Forest
9:30 We arrive at the Nisene Marks Forest for an easy hike + art time
12:00 Lunch at Andrea’s in the flower garden
1:00-2:30 Art Lesson
2:30 Coffee + Snacks
3-4 Combined Art Lesson with Andrea + Renee
4:30 Workshop ends

Art Lessons

Play with color and mark-making in fresh new ways to help create looser and more expressive artworks in the studio

Inspired by the beautiful flowers of California, create loose, expressive florals in acrylic paints or watercolors

Transform your experiences from the beach and the forest into a series of abstract collages

Learn how to “see” fresh color palettes, shapes, patterns, and textures on our excursions that can be incorporated into future artworks

Experiment with creating an inspired color palette, mark-making, and other mixed-media materials

Learn tips on how to sketch and paint on location

Explore different brush techniques to make beautiful, expressive florals on paper
